With less than 3 weeks to go before Americans go to the polls to choose a new leader, the race for the White House has been fairly lame...
Republican John McCain's campaign has been criticised for its lack of focus, whereas Democrat Barack Obama has stayed 'on message'.
Clearly, the global financial meltdown has helped Obama, with voters seemingly identifying the Republican contender with current President George W Bush's failed policies on just about everything, including the economy.
McCain also looks very old and crusty when in the same room as the youthful Obama, something not lost on America's swinging voters watching the three debates.
Forget 'Joe the Plumber'. He is nothing more than a media sideshow in an otherwise dull campaign.
Obama is way ahead in the polls, and if you believe the expert pollsters, McCain cannot come back from his current position.
But there are some suspicions that white male voters who say they'll vote for Obama when polled, might not, when it comes to actually casting a vote.
You might also have noticed that Sarah Palin, McCain's running mate, has been quietly shoved into the background after the initial media flurry.
It appears that Palin is now seen as a liability for the Republicans, given her main appeal is to hard-core, right-wing Republicans who would never vote for a black Democrat anyway.
What damage she has done to the more moderate McCain remains to be seen, but it could be ugly. She certainly hasn't provided him with the kick in the polls he was after.
So barring a major terrorist attack on US soil, or a successful assassination attempt on Obama (which I'm still not ruling out), it looks like history will be made on the 4th of November.
I'm still a little unsure about Barack Obama, but it is hard to imagine how he could be a worse President than Bush.
Having said that, it's a little sad that these two are the best possible candidates from a population of 300 million Americans.
Over to you......
